The way I like to describe intuition is that it is the voice of your soul. It's the one that always makes choices with your highest good in mind and that and that it completely knows your worth and your full potential. And our cognitive mind, our conscious mind can sometimes get in the way of that. We can occasionally forget who that is or what, what our self worth is. We can we turn it into a sliding scale. But the voice inside you, that is your true self, which I like to say is your intuition, I believe it really is that part inside you that is your true self is the place that your intuition speaks from. And like I said, sometimes it's hard to always hear it. We just want to practice things that will help us turn the volume up on the intuition and turn the volume down on the uncertainty and fear and over rationalization that gets in the way sometimes.
Christina Barsi [00:02:16]:
So I do have an exercise for us today. It's called a core value exercise that kind of helps us develop a guideline that we can always have. And the idea behind core values is that they're at the core of you. They're always there. They're the most unwavering part of what you believe in and what's important to you and what's true. But as you do this exercise, I do want to give your want you to give yourself some permission to do it again at some point and see if anything's changed. And there is room for that. There's always room for that because as we develop a stronger relationship with our intuition, we may realize that something that was on our list a month ago has changed a little bit.
Christina Barsi [00:03:00]:
And you realize, well, actually, that was my ego talking, or I just put that there because I don't know what else to write things like that. And as you develop a truer relationship with, with who you are inside, this exercise might evolve. So just keep that in mind. I am getting it out of a really nice book. It's actually a business book, but it's called Attracting Perfect Customers. It's the Power of Strategic Synchronicity, and it's by Stacy hall and Jan Brogne. I don't know if I'm saying that right, but I'll put it in the show notes. And the way they describe core values is they say values are core if they are so fundamental and deeply held that they will change seldom if ever.
Christina Barsi [00:03:41]:
So that's their description of it. But again, I will say that as you develop a stronger relationship with your truth, there is opportunity for the core values to evolve into something more and more solid for you. So the way this works is you're going to get a piece of paper, you're going to number it from 1 through, let's say, 9 or 10, and you're gonna write down the things that you. You feel are your core values are your most important things. They can be, you know, fun, it can be happiness, it can be joy, it can be integrity, confidence, dedication. And the way it works is whatever decision you make, whatever you embark on, the idea is that these fundamental things have to align with your endeavor. The most important parts of your core values have to be a part of the things that you do in your life. And it can be business, it can be a project, it can be engaging with another person, it can be an experience.
Christina Barsi [00:04:53]:
But there have to be components of your core values involved or else something will feel really out of alignment. And. And then things have the potential of going off track or derailing or, you know, you'll have a learning experience, which isn't bad at all. But it's nice to know what your core values are to see if the decisions you're making are in alignment with them, with you, essentially. So again, you're numbering the piece of paper 1 through 9 or 10, and just take a moment to write down a list of words that make the most sense to you, that are the most important to you as you pursue things. Again, like my values, I value integrity. I value joyfulness, I value dedication, a sense of humor, things like that, and when you're done with that, by the way, you have complete permission to not fill out ten words. Maybe only two or three come to mind.
Christina Barsi [00:05:54]:
That is completely okay. Whatever stage you're in is the stage you're in. If you only have one word, that's fine. There's just room to grow and a relationship to build there. But that's, that's normal. Don't worry, you're not doing it wrong. You don't have to fill it out all the way. You just do as much as makes sense to you.
Christina Barsi [00:06:16]:
And from there, if you do have more than two or three, say circle about two or three that are the most important to you on that list. And you have less than that than just circle one, let's just say one that's the most important. And once you have a few words that you feel are the most important to you that are the top of that list, if you had to choose one that feels the strongest, you're going to write yourself a personal mission statement, for example. And again, I'm taking this out of the book just because I like their example. My personal mission statement is to ensure that everyone is treated with justice. That's super simple. Like if you have one word and the most important one to you is justice, then your mission in life is to ensure that everyone is treated with justice. And that's going to be at the forefront of the things that you do and the choices that you make.
Christina Barsi [00:07:14]:
Another example they have here is, my personal mission is to ensure that I bring honesty, dedication and service joyfully into everything I do for others. So it's another way you can phrase it, and of course you can come up with your own. If you feel something that feels different but better for you, more intuitive, but it's along those lines. And if you do have a business, you can start figuring out if your mission statement is in alignment with your business. And if you ever feel like you've lost track of what these things are, you can always do this exercise again on your own. Or you can go back and refer to it if you really like it. You can even write it on a piece of paper, whatever your mission statement is, and keep it with you. And you can refer to it just to have, so that you know, as a reminder, as a reminder of the things that are most important to you.
Christina Barsi [00:08:10]:
So that is the exercise for today. I hope you enjoyed it. Till next time.
